Rochelle Andreotti Named Medical Director of Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program

VUMC Radiology is proud to share that Rochelle Andreotti, MD, will take on the role of Medical Director of the Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Program.

The endeavor is an accredited certificate program offered through Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Center for Programs in Allied Health. It prepares students with education and clinical training to become ultrasound technologists, also known as sonographers. This includes an 18-month demanding curriculum of didactic coursework along with a scanning lab and clinical practicum courses.

“Since ultrasound has been my passion, I am delighted to take on this position and help to train the best possible future sonographers who will be able to make the most of this highly user dependent modality,” Dr. Andreotti says. “I also hope to contribute to the further development of the school to include a dedicated Cardiovascular pathway in addition to the present Abdomen and Obstetrics/Gynecology track.”

Dr. Andreotti will succeed Arthur Fleischer, MD, who held the role since the inception of the program and strongly influenced its development. In her new role, she will be supporting Program Director Jill Webb, BS, RT(R), RDMS, RVT.

VUMC’s DMS program has developed an outstanding reputation for educating top sonographers. Our department is fortunate that many of those students have taken positions alongside our own radiologists with one goal in mind: to provide the highest quality patient care.
